Harbin, China Exhibition Series

Dec. 09, 2017

Harbin Future Stars Hockey Club traveled to Canada on November 22, to attend WickFest in Calgary. They finished with a Gold Medal in the Peewee 1B division. Haley Wickenheiser had previously met their coaches at the 1998 Olympics in Nagano, Japan, as competitors.

Haley said: “It is so cool to see these players now coaching and leading China’s push to grow the game! I hear girls are trying to make another push for a medal in 2022. This is our first ever peewee team from Harbin, China — where the sport is on the rise. With the next three Olympic Games being in Asia, China wants to do really well in the next Olympics and they've been really pushing in the sport of hockey so it's just exploding over there."

Our EGHA Peewee A Swarm, Bantam A Inferno and Bantam A Sabres, have been fortunate to obtain a series of exhibition games vs the Harbin team, thanks to the work of Hockey Edmonton and our EGHA President, Bryan Toles and other members of our executive.

Two Point Photography was on hand for the first three exhibition games to capture the memories. You can check them out here:
