For those parents not familiar with the process, evaluations serve to place our girls onto teams with others of similar abilities, which helps us place our teams into the appropriate level within the city-wide league. The evaluations are done by an independent, professional service firm to ensure that all girls are evaluated fairly.
The skills skate will serve to sort the girls by ability, and will be followed by 3 'game' skates. Before each game skate, the girls will be divided into teams based on rankings, with the goal being evenly-matched scrimmage games. Please note that there may be movement between the Blue or Red group during evaluations. After the final skate, we will obtain their final rankings and sort them into teams for the season. At that point, we will also do our best to honour any friend requests received. It is important to note that the skills skate will be used as a separation tool and to make placement decisions for any players that are on the bubble between teams.
Each player will receive a unique and confidential player code that will follow them through the entire evaluation process. These codes will be communicated to parents at check in at the first skate.
How will I know which skate my player is required to attend?
For the skills skate, the players will be divided alphabetically by last name:
A-L 1815-1915 Tuesday September 5th Novice 1 Skills Kinsmen Twin Arena B
M-Z 1930-2030 Tuesday September 5th Novice 2 Skills Kinsmen Twin Arena B
Following the skills skate, scores will be posted online using the confidential player codes (usually by mid-day the following day, sometimes earlier), along with the date and time of your next skate at http://www.
The evaluation schedule is now considered final and while the full schedule can be viewed from our webpage, the designated date and time of your next skate will be listed at http://www.
It is very important that you arrive with plenty of time to check in, get your pinny, and get ready - at least 30 minutes before the start time of each session. The evaluations are a critical component of making sure we place each player on the appropriate team so that they get the most out of their season. If your daughter is unable to make one or more of the evaluation sessions, please let us know so we can make note of the planned absence.
While evaluations are open to anyone who is interested, we ask that you refrain from approaching the evaluators. Any concerns or questions you have regarding evaluations should be directed towards our evaluation chair - email@example.com.
Many of you have also indicated an interest in serving as bench staff (coaching or bench moms/female player assistants) and this is wonderful. After the evaluations are complete, we will match our coaching requests with teams and work with you to make sure that all teams have a full complement of coaches
